Pasco County Arrests Human Smuggling Suspects During Traffic Stop

Pasco County authorities made an arrest for human smuggling after a traffic stop on Interstate 75. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper stopped a white Mercedes Sprinter van near mile marker 287 for multiple traffic violations. A critical detail during the incident showed there was an occupant hiding in a rear compartment. The driver Carlos David Tomas Hernandez faced charges for human smuggling with No Valid Driver License. Two additional passengers were discovered and detained for immigration processing. All three men were determined to be in the United States illegally without proper documentation. The driver was taken to Pasco County Jail while ICE processed the passengers through customs and border protection services.
