Pasco County’s Port Richey and New Port Richey police departments are seeking accreditation milestones set by Florida’s law enforcement standards. Port Richey is pursuing accreditation, while New Port Richey recently achieved the designation after over a century of effort. The process requires meeting 260+ standards across operations, technology, and community engagement. Port Richey’s chief, Frank Ruggiero, emphasized commitment to excellence, aiming for accreditation within 18 months. Financial support includes a $4,000 allocation for assessments, while New Port Richey highlighted years of policy reforms and training upgrades to meet accreditation criteria.
