Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco Launches Campaign for Florida Senate Seat

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco announced his candidacy for the Florida Senate seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Ed Hooper. Nocco, who has served as sheriff since 2011 after being appointed by former Gov. Rick Scott, emphasized his conservative Republican values and commitment to law enforcement-friendly policies. In his campaign statement, Nocco highlighted his 15 years of experience keeping the community safe and building regional partnerships. Sen. Hooper, who has served 16 years in the Legislature, announced his retirement effective on Election Day, Nov. 3, citing his desire to spend more time with family and friends. Gov. Ron DeSantis will hold a special election to fill the vacancy. Nocco has been re-elected multiple times without opposition and brings extensive law enforcement experience from various agencies before becoming sheriff.
