Pasco Superintendent Endorses School Board Candidates Ahead of Election

Pasco County Superintendent John Legg has entered the political arena by endorsing three candidates for upcoming school board elections. With two incumbents retiring, voters will determine the composition of the five-member board. Legg supports real estate agent Mollyana Ward in District 3 and consultant Gino Collura in District 1, while also backing incumbent Megan Harding in District 5. His predecessor Kurt Browning maintained neutrality during his tenure, a practice common among appointed superintendents in neighboring districts. However, some candidates like Erin Stroupe argue that superintendent endorsements can influence voters unfairly. Ward expressed gratitude for the support, while Stroupe urged voters to research candidates independently beyond political backing. The race highlights tensions between traditional educational leadership neutrality and active political engagement in local governance.
