The city of Port Richey has appointed Sal Licari as interim city manager following the sudden resignation of Don King Jr. on June 12. Mayor John Eric Hoover stated that the resignation resulted from ongoing issues including communication problems and management concerns identified during King’s initial evaluation period. A recent controversy involving a $9,850 consulting payment without proper council review further strained trust between the governing body and city administration. Licari, who has worked for the city for nearly three decades as operations manager, was quickly selected to fill the vacant position. The council plans to negotiate a contract with Licari that could be approved at their June 23 meeting. Mayor Hoover emphasized that the city remains strong with its dedicated leadership team and hardworking employees despite this transition.
