A devastating house fire in Zephyr Heights on Thursday evening claimed the life of 44-year-old Randy Horsley, a youth baseball coach. Pasco County Fire Rescue officials reported that the blaze started in the garage, and although firefighters managed to pull Horsley from the burning structure, he later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. His 21-year-old daughter Jayna described the emotional toll of receiving the devastating news, while her 17-year-old brother Ayden narrowly escaped by climbing out a window with a friend. Investigators were unable to determine the cause of the fire, but Horsley’s daughter revealed that he suffered a heart attack while attempting to escape through a living room window after being unable to exit through other openings. Neighbors witnessed the intense flames and have since come together to support the grieving family, who raised over $6,000 for funeral arrangements. A candlelight vigil was held at Dade City Little League fields to honor Horsley’s memory before his scheduled funeral service on August 1st.
