Woman Arrested After Crashing Into Building And Police SUV While Drunk Driving With Children Inside

A Port Richey woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after crashing into a commercial building and then backing into a Pasco Sheriff’s Office patrol SUV while allegedly driving under the influence. The incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. when a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on her 2005 Kia for a traffic violation. The driver failed to stop and continued into the parking lot of a business along U.S. Highway 19 in Hudson, striking the front of a chiropractic office. She then attempted to back away from the building, causing the vehicle to collide with the deputy’s marked patrol SUV. Both the building and the patrol vehicle sustained damage during this chaotic incident. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Kari Roumeliotis of Port Richey, who had two children ages 4 and 5 inside the Kia at the time of the crash. Fortunately, neither child nor the deputy was injured during the incident despite the property damage. Troopers reported that Roumeliotis showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for further investigation. She faces multiple charges including DUI, DUI with property damage, two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, resisting an officer without violence, and driving with a suspended license. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident while authorities determine the full extent of damages and potential additional violations.
