An 87-year-old man from Wesley Chapel died following a severe vehicle accident involving a Tesla Model Y SUV in Pasco County. The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on May 26 when the driver was operating the vehicle in autopilot mode on Overpass Road. The Tesla departed the roadway, collided with an electrical box, and subsequently drove into a pond located just east of Infinite Drive. Emergency responders transported the driver to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A 75-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was also injured but her condition is not life-threatening. She was taken to the hospital for treatment while authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic crash.
