Fifth Annual Turtle Trot Draws Record Runners to SunWest Park

The fifth annual Turtle Trot at SunWest Park in Hudson drew a record 253 participants on April 11, with runners and speed walkers completing either a 10K or 5K course around the spring-fed lake. Proceeds from the event benefit the Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Adaptive and Inclusive Programming, which provides recreational opportunities for individuals of all abilities. The race also honored Angela Fagan, a parks program manager who died of COVID-19 in 2021, with ocean-themed decorations and beach decor reflecting her love of the ocean. Event organizer Kim Miller described the creative elements as a heartfelt nod to Fagan’s spirit. The event coincided with All Abilities Month, and the parks department will host Adaptive Sports Day on April 25 at Wesley Chapel District Park.
