The Florida Department of Transportation has started a $2.1 million project to improve the interchange at Interstate 75 and State Road 52 in San Antonio. The project, which began April 26 and is scheduled for completion in late summer or early fall, includes adding new ramps, dual left-turn lanes, and reconfiguring existing roadways to handle increased traffic from ongoing development. Recent years have seen major expansions to State Road 52, including a new four-lane section in 2023 and widening work completed in 2024. Additional projects are planned, including a pedestrian overpass on the Suncoast Trail and future widening of seven miles of SR 52 to a divided four-lane highway near the Amazon distribution center.
