Injured Veteran Receives New Home With Help From Nonprofit

An injured veteran is getting a brand-new home with the help from a nonprofit, Homes for Our Troops. The organization is building a home in Wesley Chapel with special accommodations for Christopher Lawrence, a veteran who was severely injured during his service in Iraq. After watching the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, as a high schooler, Lawrence joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was deployed to Iraq. He was part of the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion in Iraq for about five months before he was severely injured. Lawrence hopes his new home lets him be a functional member of his family.
