New Port Richey residents will have the unique opportunity to order drinks from local celebrities during an annual fundraising event benefiting the city’s Main Street organization. The Celebrity Bartender event is scheduled for Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at various downtown restaurants and bars, where all beverage sales go directly to participating businesses while cash tips support future community projects. Executive director Nathan Ward explained that these celebrity bartenders are nominated well-known community members rather than professional mixologists, with staff bartenders available for more complex cocktail requests. The not-for-profit organization was established in 1990 to support business development and revitalization through job creation, historic preservation, and building community pride. This year’s initiatives include a tourism marketing budget, new murals, and a new Sunday event aimed at boosting summer economics. Jennifer Thompson, who worked for McPherson & Thomas last year, is returning as a celebrity bartender because she believes in the organization’s positive impact on the community.
