Madison Boatright Wins Spirit Award Before Starting College Program at Auburn University

Madison Boatright, a 19-year-old from Wesley Chapel with Williams syndrome, has been accepted into Auburn University’s Eagles Program for students with intellectual disabilities. After ten seasons playing in Buddy Baseball alongside her buddy, she recently graduated from Cypress Creek High School and became the first recipient of the Spirit of Buddy Baseball Award, which includes a $1,000 scholarship. Her mother Lisa Boatright found the program through Think College, a website that helps families locate inclusive post-secondary education options. The Eagles Program offers two-year tracks with extensive support systems including dormitory living and mentorship from peer students called Wings. Madison will have access to university resources while developing independence in social skills, daily tasks, and decision-making abilities. Her journey reflects the growing opportunities for individuals with disabilities to pursue higher education in supportive environments.
