Motorcyclist Arrested After High-Speed Chase Through Pasco County Roads

A 44-year-old motorcyclist was arrested Saturday night after allegedly leading Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a high-speed pursuit through Pasco County. The incident began around 9:40 p.m. when a trooper observed the rider traveling at 104 mph in a 45 mph zone on State Road 52. The motorcycle reached speeds exceeding 145 mph and maintained those speeds for approximately ten miles while weaving through traffic. During the chase, the rider bypassed multiple patrol vehicles and ran several red lights before eventually slowing down voluntarily on Lake Drive. Troopers found marijuana in the rider’s pocket, though he possessed a valid medical marijuana card. The motorcyclist admitted to consuming alcohol earlier but showed little to no signs of impairment during field sobriety exercises at Pasco County Jail.
