New Port Richey Downtown Transforms With New Railroad Square Park And Future Plans

A major redevelopment project in downtown New Port Richey has officially concluded, transforming the area into a more walkable and inviting space for both residents and visitors. The newly completed Railroad Square Park features expanded pedestrian areas along Nebraska Avenue with comfortable seating and room for outdoor activities. City Manager Debbie Manns expressed pride in the transformation, noting that the project aims to create a strong sense of community while attracting more visitors to the downtown area. Local business owners like Bryan Hackman of Cotee River Brewing Company have seen significant growth over the past eight years as the district evolves from a slow town into a bustling hub. The city is now considering expanding its wet zone guidelines to allow outdoor alcohol consumption on additional days, which could further increase foot traffic. Additionally, city leaders plan to discuss a second phase of the project that would extend the redevelopment westward to Bank Street, potentially hosting larger events and arts festivals in the future.
