Pasco County Celebrates Juneteenth With Arts And Sports Events Across Multiple Locations

Pasco County celebrated Juneteenth with a week-long series of community events designed to honor the occasion through arts, sports, and cultural activities. The celebration began on June 15 at the James Irvin Civic Center in Dade City with the annual Beats & Brushes event, where participants enjoyed guided painting sessions set to music. Approximately twelve attendees, including Mayor Pro Tem Normita Woodard, created watermelon-themed artwork during this artistic gathering. Throughout the week, residents participated in various recreational activities such as pickleball lessons, basketball tournaments, and soul line dancing at Wesley Chapel District Park. Additional events included bowling at Pinchasers in Zephyrhills, badminton matches at J. Ben Herril Recreation Complex in Holiday, and outdoor movie screenings at Land O Lakes Heritage Park. The festivities concluded on June 20 with the Sixth Annual Juneteenth Community Celebration featuring games, activities, and food served at the Lewis Abraham Boys & Girls Club in Dade City. These diverse events showcased community engagement and provided opportunities for residents to celebrate cultural heritage through shared experiences.
