Pasco County Deputy Accused of Messaging Minor and Deleting Snapchat in Active Investigation

A 32-year-old Pasco County deputy is accused of communicating with a 13-year-old student and deleting Snapchat during an active criminal investigation. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office says the conduct began on March 5 when the deputy was assigned to a school security detail. Conversations started with general topics but became uncomfortable and included suggestive statements, according to the student. The student also received a photo consistent with skeletal remains from a case the deputy worked on. Authorities say the deputy admitted communicating with the student and deleted the app after learning of the allegation before investigators could review messages. He faces a third-degree felony charge of tampering with evidence tied to the timing and intent of the deletion.
