Pasco County Fire Rescue’s prehospital blood transfusion program, launched in December, is already improving patient outcomes by enabling paramedics to perform life-saving transfusions at emergency scenes. The initiative, which has conducted five transfusions so far, aims to nearly double survival chances by reducing mortality rates associated with delayed blood delivery. The department plans to hire additional staff to expand the program’s reach, with a blood drive scheduled for February 28 to support the effort.
