The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has introduced a fee to cover administrative costs for additional security screening, including ConfirmID checks, which may take 10-30 minutes. Travelers can prepay via pay.gov, but non-REAL ID-compliant individuals risk being denied boarding. REAL ID cards, mandated since May 2025, remain required, with Florida residents needing in-person applications. Over 94% of air travelers are compliant, though digital IDs via Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, and Samsung Wallet are now accepted at 250+ U.S. airports.
