Pasco County Fire Rescue responded to two separate lightning-related incidents in the Dade City area on Monday afternoon. The first incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. at the 13000 block of Palmilla Drive in Lake Jovita, where crews found an adult male patient who was possibly struck by lightning and taken to the hospital with critical injuries. About twenty minutes later, rescue teams responded to a second call for an adult male possibly struck by lightning around 5:15 p.m. Early indications suggest this was an indirect lightning strike rather than a direct hit. The second person remained conscious and breathing without apparent serious injuries but was still transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Both incidents highlight the dangers of severe weather conditions in the region during stormy periods.
