Pasco-Hernando State College has unveiled its new Wilton Simpson Science and Innovation Center, a 27,000-square-foot facility on the East Campus designed to enhance STEM education. The building features an authentic mock ambulance where emergency medical technician students can practice in realistic cramped conditions that mirror actual work environments. Adjacent to the EMT program area are drone and robotics laboratories supporting engineering technology degrees in automation and mechatronics. The facility includes smart classrooms equipped for hybrid learning and video conferencing with infrastructure designed for future technological upgrades. State agriculture commissioner Wilton Simpson, a PHSC graduate, secured funding for the project and has his name attached to honor his contributions. College President Eric Hall described the new center as a significant milestone that elevates the institution’s mission of preparing students for successful careers in growing regional industries.
