Veterans Push Through Developer Resistance to Raise Flag at Clubhouse

Residents in Land O Lakes successfully advocated for an American flag to be displayed outside the clubhouse at Medley at Club Angeline after months of persistence. The effort was led by military veterans who initially faced rejection from the community developer Lennar, who cited aesthetic concerns despite residents offering to cover installation costs. After local news coverage highlighted the dispute, Lennar agreed to allow and fund the flagpole installation. Despite this agreement, progress stalled for several months until a dedicated resident continued to follow up with the developer. The flag was finally raised on Monday ahead of Independence Day celebrations marking the nation’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Community members now hope this victory will inspire others to advocate for causes they believe in and are working toward obtaining a historic flag from the U.S. Capitol.
