The continental United States experienced its third hottest July since 1895 according to NOAA data, with twenty states recording one of their ten hottest days during the same month. Climate change continues to drive rising global temperatures, causing the Earth’s temperature to climb each decade since 1880 by approximately 0.14 degrees Fahrenheit. Stacker compiled a ranking of the hottest Julys in Florida since 1895 using data from the National Centers for Environmental Information based on highest average monthly temperatures. For each of the hottest months listed, information includes average state temperature, statewide highs and lows for the month, and total precipitation recorded during that period. This analysis highlights the increasing frequency of extreme heat events across the region as climate patterns shift dramatically over recent decades.
