The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has temporarily halted scallop harvesting in Pasco County after potentially harmful toxins were detected. The Pasco Zone will remain closed until it is deemed safe to reopen. The scallop season started on July 10 and was scheduled to run through Aug. 18, but it’s unclear whether this season will be extended.
